Under the Construction Products Regulations (CPR) it is a legal requirement to use only certified products for smoke ventilation. It is the responsibility of the installer to ensure installations meet the relevant standards. For more information see SCS Group’s Technical Bulletin here.

M&E contractors have often attempted to install smoke control and automatic opening ventilator (AOV) systems themselves, but faced difficulties due to a lack of experience. If you are an M&E contractor wishing to bring smoke control in-house, our Approved Installer scheme will provide you with all the training and tools you need. Find out more about Approved Installers and how you can apply to become one here.
